All works of art contain a story, just as each piece captures the mood of the artist. Much like a writer with pen to paper, sometimes a painter will paint a painting for no other purpose than to tell a story, to express an idea or thought, or to simply study a particular concept. Creativity acted out in such a manner becomes the ultimate expression of personality, often opening wide a doorway into the mind of the creator and thereby giving birth to deeply personal works of art.

This work embodies such creative freedom as the artist explores the dynamic concept of Hope where the ultimate power of giving is rewarded with need, resulting in the penultimate consequence of erasing the boundary between the giver and the receiver.

An artist is never short on exposure to other, fellow artists. An artist is constantly absorbing the world around them, including the artworks and styles of others. Sometimes artists will venture outside their comfort zone to explore what a different style might feel like. Such is the case with “Painting a Dream”. It is a playful painting that tells a story about the rise and fall of political and business cycles, and the creatives that are the true constant who ultimately are the protectors of civilization. The artist Howard Finster is credited with establishing Folk Art, or Outsider Art as a legitimate genre. Christopher has always been enthralled with the Folk Art style, so it comes as no surprise that he would choose it to experiment with. This work is only the second painting by Christopher Thomas Limbrick to be created in this folk art style of painting. Ironically, the other one was actually the very first painting that he ever painted on canvas. That painting is titled “Floating Coffee Cups” 48” x 48” and hangs at his mother’s house.

This painting invokes a certain playfulness that we all have inside of us. Feelings can often be a challenge to explain in words, but paint is another story altogether! This work was created on a rather cold and snowy day, as evidenced with the use of whites and blues that create the background, when the artist had returned to the studio after sledding. The soft colors that dance together in the foreground depict a certain cheery happiness that we find when playing around or just being silly. The edges are painted in the same manner as the background, which produces a "wrap around" look when hung without a frame. A UV protective coating has been applied.
